Enjoying maths with others

Dear Fellow Learners,

I am learning that there are many ways to enjoy maths with others. But there exist many damaging myths that get in the way of people enjoying maths.

I am on a mission to raise community awareness about experiences that help people enjoy maths with others. But I can’t do this alone…

You are invited to explore a variety of maths tasks, games or maths routines and consider:

1) Which are great to enjoy with others?

2) What is it that makes a maths task, game or routine enjoyable?

3) How do these tasks, games or routines help to bust damaging myths about maths learning?

If you are interested in exploring different maths tasks, games and / or maths routines and would like to help share ways for enjoying maths with others, I’d love to collaborate on this with you.

Kind regards,

Alex

Myths about Maths

There exist many damaging myths about maths. Many people have had negative experiences of maths and, as a result, believe these myths about maths.

I was one of those people! But a few years ago, I learned some new ways of exploring maths. This included discovering different maths routines, games and tasks. Since then, I've started to do maths for fun and I regularly enjoy maths with others.

It's important to be aware of the damaging myths that exist.

Maths Proficiency

The maths proficiencies are an often abandoned area of maths. But knowing about the maths proficiencies, and finding ways to engage in them daily, can really transform the maths experience.

As you explore different tasks, games and maths routines, consider - what verbs of maths do you see in action?
